Music Ear Trainer
Privacy Policy
Last updated June 25, 2026
Music Ear Trainer is an ear-training app. It is built to need as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts and no sign-in: you do not give us a name, email, or password to use the app. We do not run ads, we do not use analytics SDKs, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data.
What we collect
Crash and diagnostics data
To find and fix bugs, the app reports crashes and errors through Sentry, a third-party diagnostics service. We configure Sentry with sendDefaultPii: false, so we do not attach personal identifiers to these reports. A diagnostic report can still include:
- your IP address, which Sentry’s servers see when a report is sent (it is used for delivery and coarse location and is not stored by us as a profile);
- your device model and operating-system version;
- the app version you are running;
- crash stack traces and breadcrumbs (a short technical trail of what the app was doing before the error).
This data is used only to diagnose and fix problems. It is not used to advertise to you or to build a marketing profile.
Your progress (stored on your device)
Your levels, streak, XP, and review history are stored only on your device — in IndexedDB in your browser on the web, and in on-device storage (MMKV) in the mobile app. This progress is not uploaded to us and is not synced to any server. If you clear your browser storage or delete the app, that progress is gone.
Optional audio-clip fetching
Most audio in the app is generated on your device. Some future levels may use recorded audio clips. If those clip-based levels are ever enabled and a clip is fetched from a third-party host, that host would see your IP address as part of the normal web request to download the file. No clip levels are active today; this is disclosed so the behavior is never a surprise.
What we do NOT collect
- No accounts — no name, email, or password to use the app.
- No ads and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics SDKs and no behavioral event tracking.
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking.
- No sale or sharing of personal data with data brokers.
Data retention
On-device progress stays on your device until you clear it. Crash and diagnostic reports are retained by Sentry only as long as needed to debug issues and are aged out on Sentry’s standard retention schedule. Because we keep no accounts, we hold no server-side profile of you to retain.
Children’s privacy
Music Ear Trainer is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app has no accounts, no ads, and no behavioral tracking. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal data, contact us and we will help.
